Asheville's Antique Walnut
The antique walnut sourced for this wooden ring was hand-picked from a collector in Asheville, North Carolina. It originated in an old tobacco barn constructed in the late 1800s. It's over 100 years old based on the date of the barn, and the tree is likely another 100 years old as well.
Our antique walnut was hand-picked from a collector in Asheville, North Carolina. It originated in an old tobacco barn constructed in the late 1800s. The board we have is about two feet wide and such a deep brown it's almost purple in some places. It's over 100 years old based on the date of the barn, and the tree is likely another 100 as well. (This is worded slightly different than the first one)
When the settlers first came to the New World they left the forests untouched for centuries with a canopy of colossal trees as far as the eye could see. Much of that old growth is gone, which is sad, not only because we don't have the opportunity to see what our ancestors saw, but also because trees begin to exhibit different characteristics the older they get, and it shows in the wood. We feel fortunate to hold a piece of history, one that was alive and steady when the future of our nation was so uncertain.
Chestnut Wood
Native Americans have historically used different parts of chestnuts for medicinal purposes. The chestnut tree itself needed a bit of medicinal help after the chestnut blight hit the species in the first half of the 20th century, making the American chestnut tree nearly extinct. All of our chestnut wood is reclaimed from old barns near Asheville. The hardy nature of the tree lends to amazing preservation over the years. Restoration efforts are underway to keep this tree going strong. https://acf.org/
Offset Sterling Silver
We're all about simplicity in design. To us, that's elegance. We added a sterling silver inlay to this dark wooden ring to take it a notch higher, and to give it some refinement and class.
