Iroko Teak (African Teak)
Teak became a popular furniture wood during the 1950s which is why we've tied this design to a mid-century style. We have a few rare, historic teak woods available as well.
Teak wood has long been prized for its rot resistance and increase in gripability when wet. It’s the perfect wood for ships and has been used for centuries as the primary wood for their decks and cabins.
The Iroko tree is native to the West Coast of Africa and can live up to 500 years. It is sometimes referred to as African Teak but is unrelated to the Teak family. It is believed to have healing properties. The wood color is initially yellow but darkens to a richer copper brown over time.
Natural Whiskey Barrel Liner
The whiskey barrel liner provides an aesthetic contrast. Most of the whiskey barrel wood we use contains traces of the charred oak, part of the whiskey barrel-making process, and adds distinct flecks of color to the oak.
Ancient as it may be, there is an undeniable refinement about whiskey and its production. Whiskey barrels come from hand-selected oak trees, usually from the white oak family, and are the primary means by which the flavor of the final spirit is achieved. The charred inside of a whiskey barrel acts to remove Sulphur while the wood sugars are caramelized and leech into the whiskey. Our weathered whiskey barrel wood is an ode to those smoky barrels that cure your favorite whiskey to maturity. I have several of the most well-known Tennessee whiskey barrel woods in stock, but if you have a favorite that isn’t listed here and have access to some barrel wood, I can probably make something custom!
Offset Copper Inlay
The copper inlay adds an extra touch of sophistication to this ring.
