The Story Behind This Ring

Moissanite — Born from a Meteorite, Cut for Candlelight

Moissanite was first discovered in 1893 by French scientist Henri Moissan inside a meteorite crater in Arizona. The mineral was initially mistaken for diamond due to its exceptional brilliance and high refractive index. Genuinely rare in nature, the moissanite used in jewelry today is lab-grown, offering the same optical fire as a diamond at a fraction of the cost.

It ranks 9.25 on the Mohs hardness scale, making it one of the most durable gemstones available for everyday wear. In the Austen, the center stone is cut in the rose-cut style, a technique dating to the Georgian Era and designed specifically to maximize sparkle in candlelight. The triangular facets mirror the petals of a rosebud, making the stone as intentional in its cut as it is in its origin.

Five-Star Reviews
This is our second ring from Rustic and Main (my husband lost the first) and I don’t think anyone could have made a more perfect ring for my husband. Not only is it beautiful, but it has character and is made from unique materials which got him so excited when I explained each part to him and gave him the certificate of authenticity.
