The whiskey barrel wood comes from the center of genuine oak barrels, where the wood carries delicate traces of char from the barrel-making process that give it a finish unlike anything synthetic could replicate. The coffee grounds are something even more rare. We sourced an unopened Hills Bros coffee can from 1941, its contents still remarkably fresh, a quiet artifact from the era of WWII rationing when families could only access one pound of coffee every five weeks. German U-boats were sinking shipments from Brazil. The GIs needed it in the field. That a can could sit sealed and preserved for so long is a testament to the frugality of a generation that wasted nothing. That coffee now lives in your ring.
