10K gold is harder than 14K and 18K, but 14K and 18K are more pure and therefore more valuable. 18K gold has the highest purity and is the most valuable, but it is also the softest among the three. While a 10K gold ring will be nearly identical in color to a 14K gold ring, an 18K gold ring will have a richer, deeper yellow hue due to its higher gold content.

The Shield carries the Pacific in three inlays.
Hawaiian koa wood fills the center — endemic to the Big Island, whose name in Hawaiian means warrior, brave, bold, and fearless. Flanking it: dual inlays of AAA-grade Pāua abalone shell from New Zealand with gold flakes, whose shifting blues, greens, and golds evoke sunlit water and the ocean treasures found where the sea meets the shore.
